摘要
The high-temperature stability of Ti3AlC2 was investigated by subjecting Ti3AlC2 to cyclic oxidation conditions in air. Cyclic oxidation between 900 1200 degrees C for up to 100 hr resulted in the growth of matrix grains and the formation of the oxide layer that consisted of TiO2 and Al2O3. When the cyclic oxidation resistance was good, the oxide layer was thin and Al2O3-rich. When the cyclic oxidation resistance was bad, the oxide layer was thick and TiO2-rich. The oxidation rate Ti3AlC2 was not a direct function of oxidation temperature and grain size of the matrix.
