Nanostructural ordering in W-Ti-B condensates

Small-anole x-ray scattering and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy were used to study the kinetics of structural ordering in nanocrystalline ion-plasina condensates of a quasi-binary diboride concentration section of the W-Ti-B system. It is shown that an ordered nanostructure appears due to concentration spinodal decomposition in the metal sublattice of a (W,Ti)B-2 solid solution that forms during condensation. A model is developed for the diffusion-stimulated concentration and structural ordering in a thermal field during the condensation and subsequent annealing. The influence of the ordered nanostructure on the nanohardness and elasticity modulus of the condensate was studied.
