Mechanical devices for cardiopulmonary resuscitation: an update

This article focuses on the new noninvasive devices and methods for cardiopulmonary resuscitation. This article discusses these new techniques and devices, including the circumferential vest, interposed abdominal counterpulsation, an active compression-decompression device, an impedance threshold valve, phased thoracoabdominal active compression-decompression counterpulsation, and a mechanical piston device. This article also discusses challenges to implementing these new techniques.
