摘要
The chemistry behind the discovery of local anesthetics is a beautiful way of understanding the development and improvement of medicinal/organic chemistry protocols towards the synthesis of biologically active molecules. Here in we present a brief history based on the chemistry development of the most used local anesthetics trying to draw a line between the first achievements obtained by the use of cocaine until the synthesis of the mepivacaine analogs nowadays.
