摘要
The objective of this work was to describe the pattern of whitefish sperm movement using Computer-Assisted Sperm Analysis (CASA). We tested effects of pH, sodium, potassium and calcium ion concentrations as well as ovarian fluid on CASA sperm motility characteristics and duration of sperm motility. Our data demonstrated that mechanism of sperm motility is species-specific and unique for whitefish. The whitefish spermatozoa are generally characterized by a "erratic" swimming pattern. Increased potassium, calcium and sodium ions caused decreases in the percentage of motile sperm at relatively low concentrations. The optimum pH for whitefish sperm motility was established at pH 9.0 but spermatozoa were motile at low pH as well. Supplementation of activation solution with ovarian fluid increase the duration of movement.
