Unlike the developed world, Fairtrade's position in Slovakia is just beginning. This form of international trade connects producers in developing countries with the consumers of the countries of the global north and creates relations that benefit both sides. Fairtrade is considered as a supportive factor of increasing quality of life not just for people who participate in working process from developing countries but also Slovak respondents are convinced that Fairtrade products are in better quality and healthier. This paper deals with the current situation of Fairtrade and its evaluation in the conditions of Slovak Republic through the research and subsequent analysis to find out how this issue is perceived by consumers. The first part is related to the term Fairtrade and its main principles why this type of the trade is important. The second part involves analysis of the Fairtrade in Slovakia and how much this trade is developed there and research concerning the customer's awareness about this type of trade and how many consumers in Slovak Republic are familiar with Fairtrade ideology and what is representing in this country. The last part of the paper talks about the possibility of developing Fairtrade in Slovak conditions.
