3D animation engine for virtual world

摘要
In this paper, we present a three-dimensional animation engine using motion captured data or key-frame data exported from character editor or motion editor. We load two file formats in our engine to animate designed character. AME and GME is exported from Character Studio 3D Max. AME is motion file format and GME contains geometries of the character. Our engine has tens of object-oriented classes. This classes supports linux or windows system, and can be easily implemented on openGL or directX. Our animation engine is characterized by generating a new motion using motion interpolation in quaternion space, blending two or more motions and real-time inverse kinematics. A well designed virtual creature can be easily interact with virtual environment using real-time inverse kinematics module in our engine without re-capturing motions.
