摘要
This paper presents the design and performance comparison of novel single-phase hybrid switched reluctance motors (HSRM) to replace universal motor. The motors are easy to manufacture due to their simple yet robust structures with minimized power switches and no torque dead-zone. The stators have permanent magnets (PMs) mounted on the inner surface and the three rotor structures are adopted: stepper type with a wide pole arc, non-uniform surface type, and partly salient type which contribute to the elimination of torque dead-zone. PMs are placed at parking position for self-start and to create positive cogging torque in the torque dead-zone. To verify effectiveness, finite element method (FEM) is employed to analyze the performance of the proposed structures. Prototype motors were manufactured and tested. The experimental results are presented to compare each motor's performance.
