It is known as one of the major sources of the medicinal plant leaves known in classic and medieval times as malabathrum. Materials and Methods: The leaf extracts were analysed for the content of its phytochemicals. Antioxidant analysis was done by DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The Anti- Inflammatory potential of the extracts was analysed and compared. Result: Both the plant extracts were found to be rich in phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids and terpenoids. Ic 50 of antioxidant potential was found to be 280 and 380 micrograms/ml for Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala respectively. Ic 50 of anti- inflammatory potential was found to be 300 and 420 micrograms/ml for Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala respectively. Conclusion: Anti- anti-inflammatory properties of Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala were analysed and compared.
