摘要
Introduction: Anti-inflammatory potential is the property of a substance or treatment that reduces inflammation or swelling.Cissus quadrangularis is a plant that has been known for its medicinal properties for thousands of years. Historically, it has been used to treat many conditions, including hemorrhoids, gout, asthma, and allergies.Cinnamomum tamala, Indian bay leaf also known as tejpat,Malabar leaf, Indian bark, Indian cassia,or malabathrum, is a tree in the family of Lauraceae that is native to India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, and China Usually used for culinary and medicinal purposes. It is known as one of the major sources of the medicinal plant leaves known in classic and medieval times as malabathrum. Materials and Methods: The leaf extracts were analysed for the content of its phytochemicals. Antioxidant analysis was done by DPPH free radical scavenging assay. The Anti- Inflammatory potential of the extracts was analysed and compared. Result: Both the plant extracts were found to be rich in phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids and terpenoids. Ic 50 of antioxidant potential was found to be 280 and 380 micrograms/ml for Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala respectively. Ic 50 of anti- inflammatory potential was found to be 300 and 420 micrograms/ml for Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala respectively. Conclusion: Anti- anti-inflammatory properties of Cissus quadrangularis and Cinnamomum tamala were analysed and compared.
