Performance Study of Double Pipe Internal Heat Exchanger in R-410a Air Conditioning System

Performance analysis of internal heat exchanger in air conditioning system was conducted in this research. The use of internal heat exchanger aimed to improve the performance of the air conditioning system. The air conditioning system used was R-410a, which was the replacement of R-22 system. Internal heat exchanger type used in this research was double pipe heat exchanger with opposite flow direction. The study was conducted by testing the air conditioning system using internal heat exchanger and standard system without internal heat exchanger. Temperature and pressure measurements were made at several points on the test platform. The amount of power consumption required by the system was also measured. The test results showed that the use of internal heat exchanger increased the COP 9.02% higher compared to the system without using an internal heat exchanger.
