摘要
Cuff-based blood pressure measurement is the gold standard method for blood pressure monitoring. However, the wall of the sclerotic arteries (stiffen or thicken) generates extra resistance to the cuff pressure in the cuff-based blood pressure measurement, which tends to overestimate the blood pressure. This paper uses a collapse model to study the arterial deformation under the cuff pressure in the cuff-based blood pressure measurement, which gives the effects of arterial stiffness on measured systolic and diastolic blood pressure by cuff-based method, respectively. The results have general utility for future work in improving the accuracy of cuff-based BP measurement. (C) 2021 Published by Elsevier Ltd.
