摘要
Three dimensional (3D) gel dosimetry plays an important role to guarantee the safety in various kinds of conformal radiation therapy. The technique enables quality assurance covering the whole treatment chain and produces time integrated 3D dose distributions in human like phantoms. It has shown to be especially valuable for the evaluation and optimisation of new treatment techniques like image guided and dose tracking radiotherapy associated with patient movement, small irradiation fields and steep dose gradients as in the case of IMRT, VMAT, tomotherapy and brachytherapy. This short overview describes various types of gel dosemeters, their advantages and limitations in relation to their clinical use and further potential.
