摘要
Various thermomechanical processing routes were applied to Al-Cu-Mg alloy to investigate the evolution of microstructure and intermetallics. The microstructure characterization primarily revealed Cu-rich (Al7Cu2(Fe, Mn)) and Fe,Mn-rich (AlCuMnFeSi) compounds. The analysis indicated that the processing significantly transformed the Cu-rich particles. The trend of changes in volume fraction demonstrated that intermediate aging effectively suppressed the nucleation of particles and retained the solutes within the aluminum. It is suggested that the transformation kinetics of intermetallics were substantially affected by the formation of particles during aging acting as diffusion barriers.
