Structural modified polythiophene by cross-linking alkyl chains

This report describes the electrochemical redox behavior of the alkyl bridge cross-linked polythiophene derivative poly(1,12-bis(3-thienyl-)dodecane) (PTC12T) compared to the non bridged poly(3-dodecyl-)thiophene (PC12T) and poly(3-hexyl-)thiophene (PC6T). Copolymers of α, ω-bis(3-thienyl-)alkanes with thiophene are also characterized. Through cyclic voltammetric measurements, it is shown that the transformation of reduced polymers into oxidized state is temperature dependent and oxidized polymers relax to the reduced state.
