The method of molecular dynamics is used to study the process of crack growth in a two-dimensional lattice corresponding to the basis plane of hexagonal close packing crystal. Computer experiments are carried out at constant tensile strains and rigid boundary conditions limiting shear strains. It is shown that the given simple model of the rigid body permits studying the basic regularities of the crack growth. A decrease of Poisson's ratio in the region of great tensile stresses is also marked. It changes a correlation between normal and shear stresses and makes the material brittle.
