摘要
Rexam, a manufacturing leader in plastic packaging for the cosmetic, food, and beverage industries, is investing in vision systems to automatically inspect bottles for ensuring that they are intact, clean, and meet safety standards. The company decided to implement vision systems from Cognex to develop a process of sorting out defective bottles for eliminating the problem of contamination. It invests in vision systems to ensure the quality demands of refillable bottles by detecting cosmetic defects such as air bubbles, and checking the seal with the bottle-cap to eliminate the risk of leakage. Bottles with scratches, chips, and imperfections such as air bubbles and other cosmetic defects which in themselves do not affect the function of the bottle are systematically processed through the use of vision. The use of vision systems is thereby a part of Rexam's effort to become a resource-efficient company for improved quality and customer satisfaction in the face of tough competition.
