摘要
Esperanza del Mar is a purpose-built floating hospital and support ship. It was constructed at IZAR's Gijon shipyard for the Spanish government agency Instituto Social de la Marine to provide medical and emergency support for the nation's fishing vessels and to other vessels world-wide as required. This article outlines main features of the 97m long vessel, focusing on medical services and the fully redundant propulsion plant. The latter is arranged in two separate machinery spaces with one main 2700kW Caterpillar MaK9M25 diesel engine in each.
