摘要
Energy is an important input for economies. In this context, many countries are trying to understand how energy affects the economy. In this study, the relationship between outdoor lighting consumption in public spaces (such as parks, squares, roads, streets, and shores) and economic growth has been examined. Using the (1970-2019) annual data for the study, the relationship between energy consumption for lighting purposes and economic growth was tested with the time series method. According to the analysis made with the time series method in the Eviews statistical program, it has been seen that there is a reciprocal causality relationship between energy consumption for lighting purposes and economic growth in Turkey. Increasing energy consumption for lighting purposes has increased in direct proportion to the economic growth indicator. This shows that energy consumption for lighting and socializing in nightlife is associated with economic growth.
