摘要
Primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) is a largely hereditary disease for which 127 risk variants have been identified to date. While each individual variant plays a relatively minor role, they can be used together to measure the overall genetic load using a polygenic risk score (PRS). Genotyping can be carried out once at low cost and enables the calculation of a PRS for a wide range of diseases. The PRS can be calculated earlier in the life course, before environmental or phenotypic risk factors can have an impact.
