摘要
The effect of the welding tool shape in dissimilar friction stir welding of steel and aluminum on the formation mechanism of the intermetallic compound was investigated. It was found that the heat input during FSW process could be controlled by the tool shape. In addition, the tool shape caused a difference in the IMC formation behavior near the shoulder, which was correlated with the amount of plastic deformation of steel. Arrhenius plots of the IMC formation behavior in various joining processes indicated that the rate constant increased with the strain rate of iron during the reaction process. © 2020 The Japan Institute of Light Metals
