THERMODYNAMIC INVESTIGATION OF THE SORPTION OF FE-3(+) AND CU-2(+) IONS BY A FIBROUS POLYAMPHOLYTE

摘要
The sorption of Fe3+ and Cu2+ ions on a fibrous polyampholyte synthesized by modification of PAN fibres with EDA is studied by thermodynamic methods. The endothermic adsorption process and the positive change of the entropy of the system with the established effect of compensation between ΔH and ΔS are an indication for the complicated mechanism of the chemisorption with complex formation. The complexes formed with the both ions are different. The pH value of the metal salt solutions affect strongly on the adsorption process. At pH > 2 sorption of Cu2+ dominates, while at lower pH values sorption of Fe3+ prevails. © 1990 Akademie Verlag GmbH, Berlin
