THE FORENSIC EXAMINATION OF PAINT

This article outlines the ways in which paint is encountered as a trace material in forensic science. The methods of transfer and recovery of paint flakes are considered. There are coloured illustrations of multilayer flakes of household and vehicle paint. The routine methods used for paint examination and comparison are described. These methods range from simple microscopy to sophisticated instrumental techniques.
