RADICAL IONS CHEMISTRY - RADICAL-CATION REACTIONS

The review deals with chemical reactions of radical cations. Only few examples are given. Intramolecular reactions of organic radical cations are illustrated on carbon-carbon bond cleavage reactions. Intermolecular reactions between radical cation and other molecule are illustrated on nucleophilic and pericyclic reactions, on radical cation reactions with free radicals and on radical cation-catalyzed chain oxygenation of olefins. The last chapter presents the reactions of radical cations formed on irradiated surfaces of semiconductors. On the basis of electron and/or hole transfer processes, new reaction mechanisms are discussed.
