A NEW SYNTHESIS OF 5-HYDROXY-2-ISOXAZOLINES AND THEIR CONVERSION INTO ISOXAZOLES

摘要：

The reaction of 1,5-diarylpent-1-yne-3,5-diones (1) or 2,6-diaryl-4H-pyran-4-ones (2) with hydroxylamine in ethanol leads to the formation of 5-hydroxyisoxazolines (3, 6) along with isoxazoles (7, 8) as minor products. The isoxazolines can be converted into isoxazoles on prolonged heating with xylene. The structure of the interadiate 5-hydroxyisoxazolines was established from their IR, UV, H-1 NMR and mass spectral data.
