摘要
The purpose of this study is to show the difference between acquisition scores of second grade students attending west and east rural schools by determining the effect of additional supportive texts on word acquisition levels. In two rural counties, Alpu (Eskisehir) and Pervari (Siirt), experimental and control groups were constituted with 60 students. In control groups applications and in experimental groups also additional supportive texts were used as stated in Turkish curriculum. In order to determine the effectiveness of the research study, a word-matching test including 40 words and their meanings was developed and implemented as the pre test and post test. The data were analyzed by SPSS software and significant difference was found in favor of the experimental groups in both two rural counties. The results show that supportive texts promote students' word acquisitions. In light of the results, some suggestions were made about the use of additional supportive texts at the end of the study.
