摘要
The advantages of aerosol processes for the synthesis of complex metal oxide and supported metal catalysts are mainly in the high degree of homogeneity of the finished catalyst and their ease of preparation. The process demonstrated an unusual capability to synthesize ion modified catalysts over a wide range of modifying ion concentrations while maintaining homogeneous solid solutions structures. Catalytic investigations using these complex metal oxide catalysts showed that smooth changes in catalytic performance could be realized as functions of the concentration of the modifying ions. The method led to materials of superior catalytic properties for propylene oxidations by bismuth molybdates and iron modified bismuth molybdates, and methane activation catalysts in the perovskite series. A new phase was obtained from the synthesis of P-V-O catalysts for butane oxidation. Platinum-iridium and silver metal supported catalysts on a high surface area alpha-alumina displayed an exceptionally high degree of homogeneity.
