Norms, Actions and Possibility (A Reflection on the Nature of Norms and Actions)

In his paper "Un dilema en torno a la naturaleza de las normas", professor R. CARAC-CIOLO argues that certain widely accepted propositions about the nature of norms and the nature of actions cannot be simultaneously held. According to this author, anybody willing to achieve consistency faces a genuine dilemma and must reject either proposition. After analyzing several strategies to avoid inconsistency, his conclusion is that they are all deficient and that there is no solution. The aim of this work is to show that there is a solution without rejecting either proposition. The argument will be based on a distinction between the possibility of an action happening and its effective occurrence.
