QUANTUM INTERFERENCE OF A SINGLE VORTEX IN A MESOSCOPIC SUPERCONDUCTOR

摘要
We propose an Aharonov-Bohm-type interference experiment for a vortex in a superconductor to directly test the vortex velocity part of the Magnus force. Based on the recent advances in the nanofabrication technology as well as the progresses in both theoretical and experimental studies of vortex dynamics we show that this conceptually simple experiment can be easily realized. If established, the proposed vortex interference experiment not only demonstrates the quantum coherence phenomenon at a macroscopic level, but also has a potential for technical applications. © 1995 The American Physical Society.
