A study is made of the correlation of the rates from the solar neutrino experiment of Davis et al. (1989) with sunspot numbers for various periods of time and as a function of solar latitude. There is a measure of confirmation for the idea of a modulation of the detected rate by the magnetic field in the solar convection zone. If true it follows that the true rate, corrected for loss, is not inconsistent with the predictions of the standard model. © 1991, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved.
