RAIN ATTENUATION CHARACTERISTICS - AN OBSERVATIONAL STUDY OVER LOS MICROWAVE LINK AT 11 GHZ

摘要
Rain attenuation characteristics, at 11GHz, are studied over a 3.2-km microwave link at Guwahati and some preliminary results are presented. The correlation of rainfall rate with attenuation is described and the results are compared with CCIR and other available models, and also with those reported from different places in India. The observed attenuation values are in accordance with those obtained from log-normal drop-size distribution model. Some observations on drop-size distribution collected by a distrometer, developed by the present group are also presented.
