摘要：
The paper briefly describes the history of blocks as road making materials and how the modern version - concrete blocks - is easily used to build a very wide range of pavements including footways, housing and industrial estate roads, gas station forecourts, dock paving and road overlays. Some of these applications are illustrated and show that blocks are not only practical but are also attractive in appearance.
