Tissue Banking

The allogenic tissue transplantation comprises basically the application of corneal, musculoskeletal and cardiovascular tissue preparations. The clinical indications cover a high range of different tissue defects and are part of many therapeutic procedures. In comparison to the standards of transfusion medicine tissue banks have set up a safety concept which consists of clinical history, laboratory testing and validated manufacturing procedures. These procedures should protect the biological properties of the tissue and avoid the transmission of infectious diseases. In Germany antibiotic treatments as well as validated chemical and thermal inactivation methods are applied for this successfully. Quality assurance according to AMWHV and TPG-GewV guarantee the law-compliant work.
