The main purpose of this text is to present a historical account of the development of translation teaching at the first Graduate Program in Translation Studies (PGET) in Brazil, at Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (UFSC), showing how PGET intends to contribute to research in translation studies, an ever-increasing discipline.
