摘要
The consumption of nutritional supplements indiscriminately without proper need and also without orientation, is a major concern of the Sports Science. Based on this information the present study aimed to analyze the consumption of nutritional supplements and the effectiveness of an individualized nutritional counseling plan on bodybuilders of a Frederico Westphalen-RS gym goers. For data collection the groups were submitted to nutritional assessment and a questionnaire to investigate the supplementation consumption. We evaluated 24 practitioners of bodybuilding, male, aged 18 to 29 years. In relation to nutritional status we found that the vast majority of the individuals were normal weight, according to BMI classification and had body fat percentage within the normal ranges. The results showed that the number and variety of supplements consumed were considerably high, where the vast majority makes use of three or more supplements together. The most cited was the Whey protein supplement (27%) compared to the source indication for the use of supplements, 53% follow the recommendations of friends. It can be seen that the groups that received nutritional counseling and individualized eating plan showed reductions in weight, waist circumference and body fat percentage, which reinforces the importance of professional nutritionist performance in academies.
