Belize has become the destination for an estimated 30,000 refugees from political unrest elsewhere in Central America. Most refugees seek accommodations privately, but some have settled in a project jointly sponsored by the Belizean government and the United Nations. This article examines refugees' perceptions of the two types of resettlement.
