摘要
A report is given on 1050 patients with typical allergic symptoms (sneezing, running nose, nasal congestion and conjunctivitis) who came to an medical consultation at the department for Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery of the Medical Academy Dresden. The diagnosis comprised an exact clinical history, skin tests and the intranasal provocation test. With the help of these tests and allergic rhinitis could be found in 824 patients. The diagnosis revealed a vasomotoric rhinitis in 226 patients, because there were a negative skin and intranasal provocation test. 607 out of 824 patients with allergic symptoms were sensitized in a polyvalent way, whereas 217 proved to be sensitized in a monovalent way. The majority of the patients who were sensitized in a monovalent and also in a polyvalent way revealed positive tests to pollen, followed by house dust mite, mould and animal danders. Out of 824 patients with allergic symptoms only 18 had nasal polyps. There was a rhinoscopic examination of 415 non-allergic probands from the normal population of Dresden in order to evaluate a possible connection between an allergic rhinitis and nasal polyps. 10 of the examined probands proved to have nasal polyps. The results showed no significant differences between allergic and normal patients concerning the apperance of nasal polyps.
