摘要
Small gold particles (almost-equal-to 5 nm in diameter) lying on amorphous carbon are observed to coalesce under the influence of the high intensity incident electron beam (20 A/cm-2 at 300 kV) in High-Resolution Electron Microscopy conditions. Rapid crystal growth (up to 4 nm3/s) at the neck of sintering occurs by migration of surface atoms. Mouvement and creation of defects such as twins or dislocations are also observed within the newly formed aggregate.
