摘要
We consider recent attempts to employ cellular models of galaxy clustering in order to explain the apparent large-scale periodicity seen in pencil beam surveys. We concentrate on the Voronoi foam model, which has been proposed to provide a natural explanation for both large-scale periodicity and the clustering of Abell clusters. We show that this model predicts a scale length for the galaxy-galaxy correlation function which is too large: r0 > 10h-1 Mpc (h is the Hubble constant in units of 100 km s-1 Mpc-1). Similar problems arise for other models based on cellular structures: the observed value of the galaxy-galaxy correlation function sets a limit on how large the cells can be.
