Based on her biography, the author reconstructs the changing concepts of labor: during her studies of industrial management, of Marx, feminism and finally the German trade unions. She points out the limitations of each concept of labor. The author is searching for the appropriate vantage point from which to formulate a critical analysis of the political economy of labor.
