Failure of a total hip arthroplasty could be a result of multiple intrinsic and extrinsic factors. Understanding the causes of failure in study populations is essential in guiding future strategies to optimize safety and outcome as well as the utilization of health-care resources. A systematic evaluation is crucial to identify the mechanism of failure and establish a standardized treatment plan.
