摘要
Means of increasing the density and reducing the permeability of carbon materials by modifying the production methods or switching to different raw materials are considered. Compaction by steeping organic materials in liquid, with or without subsequent heat treatment, is discussed. The density change on steeping is compared with the porosity of the carbon material. The influence of steeping on the properties of the carbon material is considered. In compaction by steeping, the influence of the intermediate graphitization and the thickness of the part on the final density of the graphite is analyzed. The potential of deposition of carbon from the gas phase in compaction is discussed.
