摘要
A two-part program that is both structured and informal can help make leaders out of young engineers. New York-based Frederick R. Harris, Inc has created the leadership-development program for its future managers with the following main objectives: leadership training, management training and quality improvement. Initially began as a young-associates forum (YAF), the sessions cover consulting engineering, marketing and business planning, and management. In contrast to the well-defined format of the YAF, the specifics of the mentoring program itself are largely left to the individuals involved. In its three years, the YAF has graduated 55 engineers, 15 of whom have advanced to the mentoring program. Several have been promoted to upper management levels.
