EFFECT OF CHLORIDE CONCENTRATION ON THE SOLUBILITY OF AMORPHOUS URANIUM-DIOXIDE AT 25-DEGREES C UNDER REDUCING CONDITIONS

摘要
The dependence of the solubility of a microcrystalline uranium dioxide on the chloride concentration has been studied at 25-degrees-C under reducing conditions. The concentration of uranium in solution has been found to be some orders of magnitude lower than in perchlorate media. Possible changes of both the morphology and the composition of the solid phase have been investigated by means of Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX) and X-ray Powder Diffraction (XPD). The formation of a secondary solid phase as a reason for the decrease of the solubility has been postulated.
