REAL-TIME EDGE ENHANCEMENT WITH HYBRID AMORPHOUS-SILICON FERROELECTRIC LIQUID-CRYSTAL DEVICES

摘要
In this paper, we present analyses and experimental results on real-time edge enhancement of images using two amorphous silicon/ferroelectric liquid crystal devices. The analog device performs edge enhancement using a flexoelectric effect and the binary device using a phase conjugation scheme. These devices have faster response times than the previously reported photorefractive crystals and spatial light modulators used in performing edge enhancement on image data.
