摘要
Increase in alloy grain size is found to increase the high temperature oxidation resistance of 2.25Cr-1Mo steel (at 823 K) and 9Cr-1MO steel (at 973 K), in air. This behaviour is attributed to the greater internal oxidation in case of fine grained 2.25Cr-1Mo steel, and to unfavourable scale morphology leading to spallation in case of 9Cr-1Mo steel. At 973 K, oxidation resistance increased with decreasing grain size in an SS 316, because of enhanced grain boundary diffusion of Cr leading to early formation of a protective layer.
