A child with prolonged abdominal symptoms was shown to have a concomitant gastric non-Hodgkin lymphoma and gastritis caused by Helicobacter pylori infection. After a course of antibiotics and 6 months of chemotherapy, the patient is disease free. The relationship of the microbial infection and tumor development is discussed. The case supports a hypothesis that local H. pylori infection may be a predisposing factor for gastric lymphoma. (C) 1994 Wiley-Liss, Inc.
