摘要
The article reports on the structure, microstructure, and oxidation behavior of several Fe-Mn-Al-Si-C-X alloys that show excellent oxidation resistance at 500 and 700 C (930 and 1290 F). The goal in alloy design was to obtain an Fe-Mn-Al-base alloy with as much aluminum as possible retained in the austenitic solid solution. It was assumed that aluminum would diffuse to the surface of the alloy to form an aluminum-rich protective oxide scale, and that the austenitic structure would permit plastic deformation with relative ease at room temperature.
