摘要
A new optical evanescent wave sensor for chemical applications has been fabricated. The sensor principle is based on refractive index change due to the absorption of organic molecules in a thin polymer layer. We present in this paper the first results concerning the detection of hydrocarbons in anhydrous air. A model based on thermodynamics is developed to explain the absorption mechanism of the gas in the polymer.
