Substituted Fe-B amorphous ferromagnetic ribbons have been exposed to multipulse excimer laser irradiation (lambda = 248 nm, tau = 20 ns). The effects of laser treatment have been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. Depending on the number of applied laser pulses and sample composition, relaxation of internal stresses and/or controlled magnetic anisotropy could be obtained without onset of bulk crystallization.
